I have not seen an Offy 4v manifold in person, only photos. I currently have a Clifford 4v intake manifold, and I can’t see any major differences between the two by casual observation.

Others have stated that an Offenhuser is preferable over the Clifford, but never do they say just why they like it better, or if it performs better.

I can see a difference between the OZ products and Clifford, and it is easy to guess why the OZ units would perform at a higher level with longer, and close to equal length runners.

I have used both intakes on my junk over the years. An Offy will make more low end than a Clifford, be pretty even in the mid-range, and run out of wind in the upper range.

I have no experience with the Oz stuff.

I prefer an Offy for a true street car, Clifford for a race car. :D

Zilla hit it on the head. Thats all you need to know! Except,if you are running a hairy street car that you wanna buzz up high with a big cam/carb/headers then I would go with clifford.

Big hairy cam is close to where I’m at presently, with an engine that cranks to 5500 like nothing… Haven’t wound her much past 5500, but the guy that built the car in the early nineties said he would shift it at 6300…

Thanks guys for the info on these manifolds.

Not THEN you want to run a long runner Hurricane. Guys just FYI the NEW short runner (mid runner if you ask me)
Has been designed to give the BEST of the Clifford and the Offy.

Aggreed, I have run both and the Offy(seems)to run a little short on top end The Clifford seems to pull more on the top.BUT I have never done a direct comparative test to conferm. I made other changes at the same time while swapping intakes. I would love to get the Hurricane for my car but will have to wait for a while till budget allows. Also my Offy mounts the carb foward and the Clifford is side mount that some have said has better distribution on the street.

Frank, do you have one of the short runner intakes in your hands yet? I am somewhat interested in one.

Zilla nailed it. I have done back-to-back, and that is exactly what happened. Wjajr, it may be a good idea to try the Offy on your combo for more low/mid grunt.

I am also somewhat interested in the "short" Oz intake, but not sure if they are available yet.

INTAKES.....INTAKES.....INTAKES.......

AFTER PIDDLING AROUND WITH SINGLE, DUAL, & QUAD INTAKES......

THEN USING BIG SINGLES & DUALS, & DIVORCED QUADS I SETTLED

ON AN OFFY 4Bbl, AND A YF CARB (bigger venture).

Now I get 21mpg and 109mph (after stripping everything from its periphery).

NO CHOKE - NO PREHEAT - NO UNLOADER......NADA.

MORNING 10 Min. WARM-UP (IN NEUTRAL), KIKK THE TIRES, TRANS-CK,

TURN SIGNALS/BRAKES/FLASHERS/SET MIRRORS AND GO.

MY 1972 VALIANT GRADUATION PRESENT HAS 582,331 Miles......everything is new.

The engine maw will also take a 360 w/ AOD, or a '451' BB w/ SCHUMACHER MOTOR Mts.

I WOULD LET THIS MACHINE GO FOR $3K

I didn't comment on this thread the first time around.

But I have had both manifolds on the same car. IMO the Clifford is a better over all manifold on the street. On the strip I didn't see much difference time wise. On a different car, I compared the Offy against a cast iron super six. Both using the same 2v carb. There was no difference between the two on the street. Also there was no difference time wise at the strip.

I just found and read this thread. I had forgotten all about it. Still running the shorty Clifford 4V intake on a freshly rebuilt engine & 904.

All my car farting around has been concentrated of my IHC truck project suffering from excessive mission creep; now a full blown frame off exerci$e...

Zilla was right; there ain't nothing more expensive than a FREE International Truck.
