Car Model: 66 Valiant Signet

I recently obtained a 66 Valiant Signet 225. The previous owner said they used 20W50 oil in the summer & 10W30 in the winter. Is this viable, or are there other oil types that are recommended?

20W-50 should not be necessary for Summer. 10W-30 will do year-round unless the engine is worn out. If it is on the worn side I prefer 15W-40.
