I pulled my back glass ('67 dart 2 dr hardtop) and will be replacing it.

I noticed in the FSM they cite a "polyethylene seal" on the fence. It appears to be used to make the fence thicker and provide a smooth sealing surface for the gasket. This is in addition to the rubber gasket used. It shows the seal attached to the fence all the way around, there is an upper portion and a lower portion, they meet at the pillars and the upper one overlaps the lower one, 3/4" on the left side and "no more than 2 inches" on the right side. This seems very specific. They say if that polyethylene seal is gone, it should be replaced prior to installing the rear glass. Does anyone have a picture of what that seal looks like? I've never seen one, mine didn't have it. How thick is it? Any information on this would be appreciated.

Thanks all.

Brian

while I'm on the subject, the 69 FSM says there is a "filler strip" in the glass channel of the windshield gasket at the bottom where the glass rests. It shows a strip with a circular cross section in the bottom of the gasket. Anyone have experience with that? Is it rubber, compressible? What is the diameter of that strip. I'd imagine it is for spacing the windshield correctly?

Why such a paucity of information on front and rear glass sealing on these models? Nobody know about the "filler strip" in the front or the "polyethylene seal" in the rear?

If I search youtube on front or rear glass sealing, I get tons of Ford and GM videos, but nothing on Mopar.

Brian

NOTE: my windshield gasket is the 68 onward type, not '67 type. It was converted before I got to it.
