We probably wont bring any extra " hoods " from Maine because they are usually "rusty " and aren't worth enough to haul all the way down there. Maybe some crazy Canadian might pay enough to make it worth the long haul!

a couple of questions on how things happen at M-D

1) from looking at the track web site, Saturday is a T&T from noon to 5 PM, do the slant six trials and races run during that time frame, or later?
About what time?

2) and Sunday lists drags from noon to 5,, same question, about what time to the slants run?

3) is the tech inspection any more detailed than the inspection at MPD ?
At MPD the "tech" never left the booth,, for my truck anyway.

4) is there a group area where the slants pit?

5) Where do the slant folks stay. The links for hotels on the track web site are broken. Around Hagerstown there are the Holiday Inn's, Microtels..
10 to 12 miles away from the track. Anything closer / cheaper? Can you tent camp at the track?

thanks, looking forward to it.
John

About what time? Yes TNT and Slant Races run about at the same Time.. Exact Schedule will be posted by Rick. Slant Round 1 Elim Beginning usually between 1Pm and 3PM TNT is an extra cost buy in.

2) and Sunday lists drags from noon to 5,, same question, about what time to the slants run?Timed Runs For all classes that day(usually 2 runs) Start @ 12PM on sunday Into Elim's After.

3) is the tech inspection any more detailed than the inspection at MPD ?
At MPD the "tech" never left the booth,, for my truck anyway. Yes. They will actually look at your car, ask you what time and MPH you run, Have a Helmet, and Overflow bottle installed.

4) is there a group area where the slants pit? Look at this Map Image

5) Where do the slant folks stay. The links for hotels on the track web site are broken. Around Hagerstown there are the Holiday Inn's, Microtels..

Yes you can also stay at the track, tent in the back of your truck or otherwise. No hookups or facilities.. Better to run down I 70 to the Rest stop for a shower or Good toilet.

thanks, looking forward to it.
John

Thanks Greg for posting up some of that info.

The track will start all the time trials and T & T at noon. Unlike some places, Mason Dixon generally calls us up to race 1st. They really like having us there and treat us great. So you will get 2 time trials, and then eliminations. Racing will be done early evening both days.

You need a helmet if you run under 14.00 No shorts, and no sleeveless shirts

Tech is a quick look under the hood and trunk in a car. See if you have a overflow can or bottle, and battery bolted down tight. If nothing is obviously "unsafe" your good to go.

Greg posted the Picture of the pits. Usually Ron and Kay Hamby come up Friday night and are already in the pits when I get there Saturday morning. So look for Ron's truck/trailer and car.

I will post some of the Motels close by in the next couple days. You can camp at the track also.

I will get there as soon as the gates open Saturday and try and save us some extra pits together.

We will have a drivers meeting at 11:15am. Then Tech will open at 11:30am. Time runs at 12:00am.

I will confirm this on Saturday when I am down there, but everyone should tell them at the gate that you are racing Slant 6 and entry is $15 there. Then come into the pits and you need to give me $20 which is for our payout.

You can run both the Slant 6 race and T&T if you want more runs but you have to pay an additional $30 at the gate and be sure to tell them you are running both Slant 6 and T&T

My wife and I plan to have food and drinks for everyone on Saturday for sure and probably Sunday as well. But there is food at the track also
Rick

Here is the info from last fall on motels. I did not call and re-check prices.

Quote:
I rode by most of these today. And since the hotel and Convention center closed up I thought I'd give you my opinion. I'm sure all of the ones listed are Ok, but if you are coming with a car trailer, some do not have good parking for them.

Red Roof Inn, in Williamsport, MD. about 10 miles form track. Seymour, and Ron Heath have stayed there before. This one is not listed on their web site, so here is their address and phone number.
310 E Potomac St Williamsport, MD 21795
(301) 582-3500

Best Western, Venice Hotel - Lots of parking behind the hotel. About 6 miles from the track

Comfort Suites - Parking behind the motel- about 4 miles from the track.

The Comfort Suite price is not listed,so I called them and it is $99 for a double room, plus you get a 20% off if you tell them you are from Mason-Dixon. This motel is close to a lot of restaraunts..etc. Actually all of them are. It is also one of the newest ones.

Camping at the track is free, and you can leave your car and trailer there if you like. Usually a couple of our racers stay at the track.

Bad news, I'm on-call for work that weekend. This is the first time in 6 years I can't get anyone to trade weekends with me. I won't be coming.

Me and my Mopar buddy most likely will be there on Sunday to watch. The 87 slant-equipped truck is STILL not ready (trying to get the interior installed) nor is the 65 Dart wagon even close (slant motor still needs to be assembled), interior done, basically completely redone.
