We -plan on coming but the weather here is terrible and and does not look like it is going to improve a whole lot. I think rescheduling it would be a good idea. They are calling for more snow today and the roads are already solid. More snow on Friday then turning to rain on Saturday.

It is looking like we may not be able to get out. Our weather is holding at horrible. We still can't get off our hill, temps are not going to get above freezing and we are calling for more snow on Friday. We'll keep ya'll posted.

NOAA for Seiverville, TN Winter Storm Watch in effect from February 20, 04:00 PM EST until February 21, 04:00 PM EST ....
"THE STILL ICY ROAD CONDITIONS...COMBINED WITH THIS NEW SNOWFALL
WILL RESULT IN CONTINUED DANGEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS ON UNTREATED
ROADS. ADDITIONALLY...GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS COULD STRESS ICE
COATED TREES...POSSIBLY RESULTING IN MORE DAMAGE...OR POWER
OUTAGES.

THE BITTER COLD AIR AND STILL BRISK WINDS WILL LEAD TO
DANGEROUSLY LOW AND LIFE THREATENING WIND CHILLS OVER THE HIGHER
ELEVATIONS OF SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA...THE EASTERN TENNESSEE
MOUNTAINS...AND HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF SOUTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA. A
WIND CHILL ADVISORY WAS ALSO POSTED FOR REMAINING AREAS FOR WIND
CHILL VALUES FROM AROUND ZERO TO NEAR 15 DEGREES BELOW ZERO."

Well, it is too late for people to cancel their hotel rooms now, and most people said yes, so the show is going on as planned. Maybe I could come and pick up some Bruners or Hargises on Saturday morning??

Funny, for Pigeon Forge, Weather Underground says high around 30 on Friday and no snow, maybe some ice/snow 60% chance on Sat morning, then high 40s Sat and 50s Sun.

Hope to see you all there,

Lou

The weather channels forecast shows temps in the 40's Saturday and Sunday, no additional snow or anything. Yes it may get icy early Saturday morning, but I plan to be sleeping in Pigeon Forge by then. Let's not scare everyone off. I'm sure that the interstates and the route into Pigeon Forge are "main roads" and are the first to be treated. I wish it was warmer but it ain't warm anywhere on the east Coast. We had near zero temps all week and wind gusts anywhere from 30 - 60 MPH. I worked all night Sunday outside in the coldest weather we had. Pigeon Forge's weather looks like a cake walk.  Maybe a bit toasty.

Everyone just make you own decisions and drive carefully wherever you live. Hope to see you all there.

Rick

I think if we decide to cancel we still can. I am pretty sure we were told if we had to postpone due to weather that they would allow us to without penalty. Dad and Rodney are fixing to go look at our road again. As of yesterday it was solid ice 1 1/2 inches -2 inches thick. We are about 5 miles from the treated roads and according to our sheriff the bluff on the treated road is still iffy at best. Will update y'all after they get back from checking the road.

I am not trying to scare anyone off by no means but i worked last night and for the most part if you turned off of the main roads you were on solid ice. there is going to be sun today that should help a lot, however the weather here in knoxville is calling for more ice and snow tonight and tomorrow. It is supposed to warm up sat. a little and more on sun. As of last night the police departments were still just answering calls with serious injury or crimes against a person that should tell you how bad Knoxville is when you get off the main highway.

Rodney and Dad checked the roads this afternoon. They are still rough, but they managed to make it to the hwy. We are tentatively planning on being there, pending this new front coming in.

Me, Whitney and Adelynn made it down to pigeon forge tonight. We came 81 to 40 and the roads were all great! Only down side is I had to make a significant financial contribution to the Fine officers in Virginia.....again. Seems they didn't like the pace At which I was attempting to make the trip.

Once you get out on the main roads it should be a good trip. Hope you all have a safe trip. Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend.

Leaving in 30 minutes from PA! See you this evening sometime.

I don't care if you got a fine as long as they did not finger print Adelynn! My granddaughter does not need a record!

 ya this trip seems like a bargain compared to my normal trips. Sadly I had to drive a Honda so that I could be sure to make it without the help of a rollback.
