Final thoughts on this? Please see the "Clay City RESCHEDULE" post for discussion.

I think we are ready to go ahead with this unless there is major opposition.

Thanks,

Lou

EDIT: We are on for a Clay City rainout reschedule on SUNDAY OCT 11 at M-D. This will be 3 races for the weekend total.

I think this option would suit the majority of folks involved from the discussions I have seen.

Less travel on consecutive weekends for folks.

Just need to get rick and Elmer to Agree and Say OKAY!

I did not get a response from Elmer yet. I sent it with a read receipt and I did not get anything back yet. I am fine with 3 or possibly 4 but I will not have trophy's for all 4 races and the purses will be smaller unless someone wants to kick in some $$ to help. I will keep you posted.

Rick

Prior to the race being postponed/cancelled, Wayne had contacted me regarding onsite coordination of Clay City. He had told me that John (Dadtruck) has Rock Auto Gift Certificates for Clay City. I don't know if he is coming to MD or would want to mail them or ...

IF we get to come I could possible help with the on site side of coordinating a race.

I just got off the phone with Elmer and we can do 3 races at Mason Dixon if we want, not 4. We can run our regular race on Saturday and 2 races on Sunday. So there you have it!  Hope it works for everyone.

OK, I think we should do 1 rainout race at Mason-Dixon on Oct 11 and cancel the Clay City race for this coming weekend.

I can't believe CC would get more than 4-6 Slant cars, and it's likely to rain again.

Let's go ahead with 3 races at Mason-Dixon over the Oct 10-11 weekend.

Can Alanna or Wayne call Clay City and tell them we will not be sending cars there for the Slant 6 race? We hope this does not disturb anything for next year and we will eagerly be there again in 2016!

Thanks all and see you in 11 days!

Lou

I do not have a number for Clay City (other than their recorded line) or I would be happy to. I'll check with Rodney to see if he has a better number for them. BUT as of right now Wayne will need to attempt to contact them. THANKS

PM John an address and I believe he will send the RA gift certificates out. Pretty sure he can not attend.

If the Clay City race is cancelled it could be the end of a slant 6 bracket for future years of the Mopar Southern Classic.
Let's look at the big picture.

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your input. Is there a reason you think they would not have us back? It seems once they cancelled the race weekend they would have to expect many people to have other plans on the following weekend. I agree we should tread lightly here, but I also think they will understand if we explain the situation. Realistically, they will not get more then 5 cars next weekend, based on our discussions here. They will likely be fine with not paying the purse. I hope Wayne can call them, or maybe I will try them tomorrow.

On a related note, the big picture is that we have declining Slant 6 race attendance and we are looking at contracting the race schedule, possibly for next year., to get numbers up at each race I am pretty sure that Clay City will be one of our races for some time, though. Several of us have been discussing strategies behind the scene.

All the best,

Lou

The folks I've always dealt with are:

Jared Kennon (606) 663-5904 / (606) 434-2719

Shane or Dallas (606) 663-2344

Have you tried all of these numbers?

I left messages at two of the numbers above and sent them an email as well (cc'd Lou).

I'm sure they will understand. We've raced there every single year except 2007.

I guess I am just gonna have to come back there and run this race again,... Yeesh!

(Sorry Mark, but SOMEBODY's gotta do it...  )

Not directed at you Cookie. You've got more important things to deal with right now. You're off the hook on this one.
