Did anyone invite Pete McNichol to the banquet?

Dear all,

After returning from 2.5 weeks of travel and getting a little breathing room after work this week, I am posting the specific language and the vote for a new rule for 2018. After much discussion, this received a unanimous vote from all racers at the Banquet on March 3.

Here is the new rule:
"When attempting to set a record, any ballast weight added to the car must be properly secured with bolts."

Other main talking points were:
1) Double points or 20 attendance points for the Clay City race in 2018, and/or in the future for something like one race/year on each side of the coutry in the future. The result was that valid arguments were made for double points being exclusionary or favoring some folks over others or other aspects of "fair or respectful or attractive play". The racers decided this would not be a good idea and will not employ this, at least for 2018.
2) Location of the Slant 6 Racers Banquet in 2019 (and after). After significant discussion about accessing the most racers, and the largest number of new or budding racers, the racers decided that the banquet should rotate locations every three years or so. Ryan and Whitney Covalt have offered to host the 2019 banquet, and all racers agreed. After 2019, the group thought the banquet should rotate back to Tennessee.

Thanks and all the best,

Lou
