Thanks Lou and Christine for hosting a great race weekend. It was good to be back racing again. I was very impressed with Motor Mile, it is a top fight facility and is run in a professional manner. I hope we can run there again.

A great race weekend indeed! Hanging out with the Slant 6 Family is the highlight of my summer. Thanks to Lou and Christine for being great hosts and putting on a very nice event. I agree that Motor Mile is a "Do Over" to replace Bristol. Really friendly staff that run a good event.

I made it back as far as the Lexington / Frankfort area about midnight when I had to stop in a rest area for a little sleep before pushing on the last two hours home. I woke up at 6:17 this morning! My boss cut me some slack and let me come in a little late.

Looking forward to Wilkesboro next month! :D

Thanks for putting together a great weekend Lou. Its always a great to spend time with friends and have a place to stay. It was an absolutely great weekend. I really appreciate you giving us all a place to stay and hangout and for all the work you did to make it happen.

It was great seeing the Sixy Beast back in action, and its always fun doing a little wrenching with your racing buddies too. I appreciate all the help and ideas with the race car too. I'm beyond thrilled to have that back on the track without major issues. I can't wait to get the suspension dialed in and see what it is capable of.

Congrats to all the race winners and Lou on the new record too. Looking forward to seeing everyone at wilkesboro!

Is it "porposing" in low gear?

I'd guess it needs shocks......

"porposing" would be an understatement  . I saw a video that Ron/Kay Hamby had and it appears to drive the tires down so hard that it bounces back up and nearly lifts the rear tires off the ground. It will spin a few revolutions, bounce a few more times and then finally hook. My 2nd run it bounced twice then spun the tires badly and almost put the car in the wall. I lowered tire pressure to 8psi and it seemed to help a bit but it would still bounce pretty hard.

I am hoping to collect the videos from everyone so that I can show people who have a better understanding of suspension. You are one of the ones I was suggested to show the video to. First I would like to get a good shock that is adjustable in both bound and rebound. Do you have any suggestions for a shock company? There seems to be a ton of different options out there. Currently the car has a competition engineering single adjustable shock with 3 settings and just doesn't have enough adjustment.

It was an absolute blast to drive but i'd love to eliminate that bounce.

Videos show both the front and rear tires leaving the ground. That is not what we want. :D :D

First thing before you change anything is to find out what the max travel when compressing and when unloading the shocks. Please do not take the shocks off until you do those measurements.

Thankya,
Lou

First thing you need to do is check pinion angle, then get more rear compression so it quits crushing the tires. Then, you can start tuning. Too much pinion angle will tend to make the car violent.

Dizduster on Moparts put up some very good videos last fall about shock tuning. If you can get the wonderful Search function to work over there they are definitely a good watch.

Maybe we all can take the violent toad tuning process over to Ryan's post in the Virtual dragstrip thread so we don't fill up this thread with it? :D :D

I will ask you some questions over there Dennis.

Hi Mark and Regenia,

So great you could make it! Your Valiant is one of my favorite Slant 6 cars out there. Look forward to seeing you at Wilkesboro in July too.

Rick, agreed on the Blue Car discussion - will follow on the other thread.

Lou
