The boys and I had a good time at test & tune at Ohio Valley tonight.

The Duster ran as consistent as ever. 8.90-9.02 every pass.

Chase made three passes. His best was 8.90 with a .0947 light.

CJ wasn’t able to make a pass in the Duster, but ran the CRV to get the hang of drag racing. We will put him in the Duster at Knoxville. :D

I just CONFIRMED our 2006 National Champion for the Knoxville race! :D

Mr. Norm Foster has new slicks on the 69 Plum Crazy (Purple Rain) Dart formerly known as Slanted Attitude!

The car built and raced by our 2000 National Champion, Ron "Possum" Parker.

That puts us at right about a dozen racers... A Baker's Dozen would be even better... C'mon out & Run With The Slants!!!

A helmet is all I have. Is a jacket/fire suit required? Looking at the IHRA rules I think I'd have to run a LOT faster than I expect to before I am required to have a fire suit.

Bring long pants. You do not need a fire suit.

Is your battery held down well and do you have a coolant catch can?

Thanks. I was really pleased with how the car ran. Just got home about an hour ago. I want to thank all the Slant Six Racing family for their overwhelming hospitality, and thanks to everyone that loaned me their dial-in marker. :) Brett and I had a great time. Can't wait to do it again.

Wow, super fun races at Knoxville. I got home last night (just beating Bristol race traffic) at 1 AM...

It was great to meet Brad (drgonzo) and Brett, the White Rat Boyz from Rome, GA. Joe Nelson drove over from KY in his super clean 65 Valiant (170 4spd) and we had 3 generations (and two families) of Bruner racers tripping the lights. I especially enjoyed several chats with Meril Bruner at breakfast Sat and at the track. Roll up your pant legs! Norman won some keen rounds after struggling with some gremlins in the Plum Crazy Slanted Dart.

The Motormile makeup race (Fri eve) went like this:

Round 1

Jack III vs. Rodney - Jack with a 11.94 on an 11.94!

CJ Simmons vs. Larry Chesney - Larry

Isaiah Bruner vs. Jack Jr. - Jack Jr

Brad Padgett vs. Lou Madsen - Lou (on a double redlight)

Lukus Bruner bye

Round 2
Larry vs. Jack Jr - Jack Jr

Lukus vs. Lou - Lukus with a 9.66 on a 9.66

Jack III bye

Round 3
Jack III vs. Lukus - Lukus

Jack Jr bye

Finals
Jack Jr vs. Lukus - Jack Jr winner

So Lukus won the 1st race Fri night, Jack Jr won the 2nd race (VA makeup), and Jack III won the 3rd race on Sat!!

I was quite happy with the White 62 Valiant, as I am getting better at staging and cutting lights. It ran beautifully at the races, and there and back. 8.95 @ 74.99 MPH best, after I went out in the first round Saturday and got to do a little tuning. Not bad for hot weather (about 90 deg yesterday aft/eve. The little 22X8" slicks hooked GREAT and it was fun to row through the gears. MPG for the main hwy parts of the trip was 21.5, so not bad at all for 75+ MPH and plenty of load.

Slant on!
Lou
