The Bruners definitely have beds available and they are nice to stay with.

Joel: I would say I24 and I40 will be better for hills, but I do not know I24 much. The main hills going I64 to I75 will be when you get into southern KY and TN as you near Knoxville. There are a few climbs there but not too terrible, far as I can recall.

Lou

Slanters,

I spoke with Barbara and Courtney Bruner about the track opening times. Here are updates:

FRIDAY - Gates open 5 PM, runs start at 6 PM. $20 to run t'n't.

SATURDAY - Gates open at 2 PM, runs start around 3 or 4. We can gather at the Bruners before that I am sure, and I bet you can drop your car/trailer before 2 PM anyway.

Feel free to text my cell (five 4 zero - eight one eight - 8 seven one two) Fri night or Sat morning if you want to connect.

See y'all soon,
Lou

Car is loaded and packing up all the other stuff now! Hit the road about 6:30 in the morning! See you all there about 5:00! :D

Does anyone know if we have to sign up for a class for test and tune? Or do we all just run together?

I just got home about 5:00. Rain for about 6 hours of the drive! That went along with the 3 hours at the track Saturday night! :D Anyway we had a real decent turnout with 10 cars there. Several rookies were there and we got to do a lot of bench racing and tell some good stories. Had a little "birthday" celebration for Meril (90) ,and also had our Hall of Fame presentation to Lou Madsen and Gary Bruner as our 2023 inductees. Two well deserved racers, builders, teachers, record holders and friends to many of us. I'll post some pictures in a day or two. It will probably take 2 days to get unloaded! :D :D :D Special thanks to the Bruners for allowing some of us to stay with them and providing the food!

Here is the group Picture.

This was simply a wonderful event! I am so glad we made this happen for Meril's 90th year and got to gather a pretty big group at one of the birthplaces of Slant 6 racing. It was so great to see all the Bruners, get to swap stories with Meril and all of them. Many thanks to Barbara, Alison, Courtney, and Gary for putting some of us up in fine style, only 1.3 mi from the track. Isaiah took me out in the first round with the Funny Truck and that was fine with me. Too bad about the rainout but we had a ball anyway!

I Love our Slant 6 community...

Lou
