Which tracks do you prefer for 2024 racing?
Knoxville Dragway in Maynardville, TN (timing fairly open - can discuss) 10%  10%  [ 2 ]
Kentucky Dragway in Clay City, KY (Mopar event is likely August 23-25, but no date yet and can discuss others) 35%  35%  [ 7 ]
Wilkesboro Dragway in N. Wilkesboro, NC (Maybe pair with Don Carlton event on Aug 31 weekend, or can discuss other date) 35%  35%  [ 7 ]
Motormile dragway in Fairlawn, VA (dates flexible) 20%  20%  [ 4 ]
I cannot attend any of these. 0%  0%  [ 0 ]

Dear Slant 6 Community,

We would like to have 3 or perhaps 4 Slant 6 races this year. Two races are already set - MoKan (Joplin, MO) in April and Mason-Dixon (Hagerstown, MD) in May.

Please fill out the poll below so we can gauge interest and set the dates and locations soon! You can vote for your top two preferences.
Please only respond to the poll if you intend to compete with your Slant 6 car.
If you cannot or do not want to race, then I hope you will respond to the thread with a comment that you want to show up and watch/cheer, and which places/times would be good for you.

Best wishes and many thanks,
Lou Madsen

I plan on attending at least one race this season but can't guarantee any. So, you guys pick the locations, and I will do what I can to show up. Mo-Kan is out for me. Just too far and too close to M-D.
Knoxville is the closest track for me, But any of the tracks are a two day trip, each way, so any of them are about equal.
PS: I personally like to run 1/4 mile tracks with 1/4 mile one day, and 1/8 mile on the other.

That sound good to me too Charrlie!, Of course many of the options are 1/8 Mile only.

I cast my Vote.

Thanks for setting this up Lou and others.

Greg

If I can't make MoKan I might try Clay City.

Put your vote in! I'll meet you there! :D :D

Has anyone heard from Joel Harris? He usually tries to come to Clay City. And he made it to Knoxville last year.

I just texted Joel. Maybe someone could reach out to a few other racers to get input? I'll try a few others...

I texted 4 racers and asked them to post their preferences.

I don't have plans to go to any of the races this year. I plan on going through the car and making some upgrades this year. That being said, if my plans don't work out I may just show up to one of the races

Wish you could make MOKAN Joel, but I do understand.
Would be good to see you again.
We didn't get a group photo last year, that was dumb.

Hi Bryce,

I'd say the poll is done. I do not see a Mopar date listed by Kentucky Dragway yet and have been looking every couple of days. I think we need to talk about dates next and whether we want the KY or NC track.

If we were to do Knoxville, what would be a desired date? September/October? I am not opposed to this and would try to make it, but given that no one on this site seems interested (or the racers we have contacted), it is hard to plan for that. I will text a few more racers about Knoxville. In the meantime, can you (and everyone) please contemplate 2-4 specific weekends that would work and not conflict with Labor Day or other holidays in the early Fall?

Thanks to all,
Lou

Lou,

I asked a general question on Facebook about the Knoxville dates, It looks like most prefer October. I think the only real discussion is between Knoxville and Clay City.

I saw the Facebook post and it was surprising how many people were interested in Knoxville. I saw a few names I recognized as people that may actually come. Looks like Isaiah Bruner’s truck is broken and he may not have it fixed, so seemed he was unlikely. My cars are not back together yet but they are getting closer so hopefully I can be counted in. I hope to be at a few of the races too. David shank has my old 65 4 door and he is daily driving it now and he mentioned racing a couple too. Hopefully we can travel to some races this season. Thanks all of you that are working to put these races together.
