The 2003 / 04 SL6 Points Racing Awards and Party will be held January 31 & Feb 1st in Gatlinburg at the Edgwater Inn. (Same place as last year) Everyone is welcome, even if you are not a SL6 racer.

The Hotel Info: Edgewater Inn - 402 River Rd., Gatlinburg, TN 37738
800-423-9582 Talk to Sara Edwards for the special rate.
You must reserve by Jan. 8 2004 to get this special rate.

There is a pool, hot tub restaurant, and many attractions close to the Hotel.
(Lot's to do & with-in walking Distance to downtown)
Rooms with the "Riverside View" are the best.

Gatlinburg is about 50 miles Southeast of Knoxville. (Airport code TYS for those who would like to fly-in) I'm also finding some low prices by flying into Atlanta but that means a 200+ mile drive to Gatlinburg

Schedule is to have Friday (1-30-04) an open day with a "social" in the hospitality room that night.
Saturday morning would be open, Saturday Lunch would be our meeting time where we give out awards and discuss any issues or needs for the 2004 season.

The rest of the weekend will be open to what people want to do.

Talked with Seymour last night and discussed a few things that will be presented at the Slant 6 meeting.
I would liked to suggest that anyone that has something they would like for the group to consider please write up a description and bring a few photo copies to pass around.

Lots to be discussed this year some come with you thinking caps on.

I will not be able to make the banquet, need to save my money for the racing. But I do have some suggestions.
All the ssrn records are for the 1/4 mile, however we do race some 1/8 mile tracks. would it be possible to have 1/8 mile records also? That way someone who might only be able to make one race, say Wilksboro, could still try for a record. Also don't forget Clay City, in 2000 had to shorten the races to 1/8 mile due to the damage to the guardrail.
Maybe add some other classes, for the heavier cars and/or smaller engines.
I would also like to see a race in south Ga. or Florida. Like maybe in the spring or late fall, when it gets cold up north. There are some slanters in Florida that would come to a race if it was closer, but don't want to travel 8 hrs or more.
Have fun in Gatlinburg.

The 1/8 mile records are a good idea. I had mentioned this to Doug and Seymour a while back. Anyone else like this idea?

Also if you are not going to be able to be in TN post your thoughts here and I will put them all together and pass them out to everyone there.

Last I talked with Bob, he was planning to be there.
The trouble with Bob is he will not set foot on an airplane, he will drive out!
