Tinkering with a '70 Valiant that had many issues.
Thought we were all OK with the few new exhaust valves and the Carb cleaning. So my son finally feels he can go and get this car on the road and after running it a bit I find he is spewing oil out of teh rear main seal.

Help.New engine is in the making..in the mean time;
Can a new seal be slid up and over the Crank with trani attached?
Can I get the oil pan down past the K member without lifting the engine.
Ahhh, he just wants to get to his Summer job. I hate pouring oil into this car every few miles.

Check the posts about this....I had the same question and so have others. It isn't even real hard to do, and DD has a good article with pics. I think making sure the rubber gasket at the rear of the pan being sealed is at least as critical as the main seal. THe main seal really works, but it is easy to not seal the gasket. That was the source of my leak, not the main seal. Took me three tries to figure it out.
