Are there any parts from a 1980 van with slant six that would be better than whats on my '74? There is one in a local junkyard that I could pick from. It has a single barrel with aluminum manifold.

"Ask the man who owns one" as the old Packard advertising used to say :D Probably a few things I'd grab for myself but can't think of much for a car worth getting. If you could grab parts off for free I'd take coil, plug wires, battery, starter, carb, alternator, or the whole engine for that matter. but wouldn't pay for anything if it wasn't in great condition. In other words, anything useful, you could just as well buy new later as you needed it. What do you need?

I would nab the triangle washers and brass washers from the manifolds--I do it any time I see a Slant in the wrecking yard. They aren't the easiest things to find. In my experience the hardest things to get are usually the most trivial--stuff like shifter boots, various lamp lenses, window cranks, etc.. I always think about those things when I am prowling the junkyard...
