Hi guys, I bought this https://tampa.craigslist.org/hdo/cto/d/ ... 76927.html

Not really sure why except maybe worst case scenario store it in a dry place, get it out of the weather and maybe have a decent project starting point in a few years when Im ready.

It is clean, I mean clean clean. Vinyl top has caused some damage at the front but appears to only be confined to area shown.

As far as I can tell you could eat off ( almost ) the floorboards and frame rails and trunk floor.

I was told it had a knock, the guy bought it in 94, drove it home with the knock and parked it, I have pictures of when he bought it. Im pretty sure you will want to shoot the guy once you see the pictures of the car when he purchased it and what he has let happen to it.

If possible Id like to start driving it as is. 62 thou I think on the odometer

Im hoping I can remove the oil pan without removing the engine and see possibly where the noise is coming from and fix it there.

Guy I bought it from said previous owner told him that he couldnt get it started, sprayed starting either down intake, revved the crap out of it and it started knocking. I dont know if that is the truth.

Im assuming he wiped a bearing but which one I dont know.

Anyway I hope you like it

Welcome! I also have a '71 Swinger. Oh, the vinyl top fun! There might also be some hidden rust around the rear too. Mine also had the vinyl top. That Dart looks to be a good starting place.

Congrats! Looks like a nice beginning. After having pulled an oilpan w/engine in car, I would say pull the engine to do it. If you can get it started, it may turn out not to be a rod knock, though. You could pull valve cover to listen to the vavletrain, and check the damper for a split keyway, and listen for other noises. If a wiped bearing and it is a rod knock, I bet you will need a crank and bearings. I have seen crank/bearing kits on ebay for not a lot of $$.

Happy Slanting!

Lou

1930, you're not welcome :) I don't know what I was typing.

This '70 looks to very clean. Only a deep snow could be more white. Note overspray on wiper motor.
