Car Model:
I finally got the white Valiant fired up yesterday. Actually got it to idle at 1,100 for a long time but I couldn't drive it around to see if it would maintain under actual driving conditions because a car was blocking the garage door. We had 3 different Holley 2 barrels, in one we enlarged the small holes in the throttle plate to get it to idle without turning the idle screw so far that the main circuit starts. It looks like our holes were too big because it idled too fast completely off the idle screw. The third carburetor has a gas leak we could not fix. It definitely is leaking around the inlet fitting. We tried several different fittings and gaskets and combinations of gaskets but it always leaked the same. I have had the same problem with this carb before so I bought a new float bowl and it was on the carb yesterday. Have any of you had a stubborn leak from this fitting and been able to fix it?
