How can I figure out the carb I need for a leanburn delete?
I have 1982 D150. I know about Carter dds and Holley 1945. I found a Holley r7074. Would it work.
This was my dads truck, only has 83,000 miles on it.
Going HEI also.
Thanks

Well, there is "what carbs fits" and "what carb works best."

Physically fitting, you could use the Holley 1920, Carter BBS, or Holley 1945. All of these will "fit" on the intake. However, if the truck was built with a Holley carb, you are best replacing it with a Holley carb due to minor difference in the choke thermostat arm. Also, due to minor differences in the throttle linkage, the easiest replacement would be a Holley 1945.

My recommendation to you is to find a late 70s Holley 1945 carb. Like THIS ONE

That number crosses to a 1975-1978 Dodge truck with a 225 and is a holley 1945.
This would make a good start for the conversion, make sure if it's a core to go through it,
and rebuild it... also see what jet it comes with most trucks came with a close limit jet
like a 623 or 622...this will be the same as a regular Holley 4 barrel #62 if you need a
replacement.

I have used a Holley 1920 and a Holley 1945, and I suggest the 1945 for your application. The reason is, the 1920 is getting hard to find, and the internal passages are near impossible to get clean during a rebuild. Performance wise I didn't see any difference.

Thank you one and all. The very carb Reed had recomended was very one I was in question about.
It is a NOS carb. I probably will install a electric choke on it.
Thanks again,
Rod

More info, holley book original year 1975 . TSB number 08-05a-76 may apply to that carb. Near the end of this page viewtopic.php?f=19&t=60036&hilit=76+emissions&start=15
