Post subject:  Help me choose a quiet muffler

The muffler that I have seems to have been damaged, so I need a new one. I’d like your wise opinions about a replacement.

This is a stock 65 Valiant with a 225, front pipe is 2”and the rear one 1 ¾”. It's a daily driver and I like a quiet car. But, of course, preferably so that the muffler doesn’t waste too much power.

For ages I’ve been sold something called H65075 (“stock”?, don’t know what make it is, says ”made in USA” on it). It’s a little pricier than the others and at the moment I am a little annoyed at the exhaust company that sells these, so I thought I might try something else. If this is the best, however, I’ll choose it again.

These are the other choices I have found here in Finland (they require an 2” to 1 ¾” adapter for the tail pipe, but that should not be a problem). Recommendations?
Flowtech Raptor 50050 42,90 €
Dynomax 17730 63,90 €
Magnaflow 13214 74,90 €
Flowtech 50320 79,90 €

If you have another favorite to recommend, please do. They are not necessarily available here, but I can check. Ordering from the US probably makes them too expensive with the shipping and taxes.

Below are a few muffler ideas by two folks no longer on site, Aggressive Ted & SlanrSixDan:

Ted had a 100+ mile one way commute to work he made in his Dart, he liked a quiet car. You would need to search for how Ted's car/ engine may have been modified from stock, I don't recall the details.

I generally like Walker quiet flow mufflers. If you want a little aggressive tone, the Walker SoundFX line is pretty good.

Thank you for your device wjajr and reed.

It's difficult to understand what the different mufflers/muffler families stand for. Especially as most people (not me) probably want a little (or more) “growl” from their engine. I’ll try to find out what else (that's been suggested) might be available here in Finland. Knowing what one is looking for makes things much easier.

Still open for more ideas/ecperiences...

I had no idea Aggressive Ted & SlantSixDan were no longer active, that’s great loss. I’ve read so many of their posts…
