I am not familiar with that MSD product. But the programmable boxes works with retards from a fixed maximum advance and decrease to a fixed minimum. While the advance maps on this site would start at a fixed minimum and advance to a maximum. So the meaning of the maps are reversed.

So with the MSD you would have a fixed advance of 30* at 3000 rpm. So for idle at 750 rpms, you would set a 25* retard and work your way back to 0 retard. For a Megasquirt you would start at 5* advance at 750 rpms and work your way up to 30* total advance at 3000 rpms.

Same concept, different implementation.

Update- i think i got this sorted, have a feeling i was over thinking it, am going to upload my curve to the box then as 30° is my total timing, get it running then lock dizzy in at this above 3000rpm, then check at idle which should be 15° as that was i set for below 1000rpm.

So 6 btdc on cranking, then up to 15° from 400-1000rpm, then ramping up to 30° at 3000rpm, think that will get it running??

Yes, that should get it running just fine.

Its running!!! Locked out the dizzy, droped it back in and first got it running with dizzy hooked straight to coil. Set at 30 btdc and locked it down. Will start and run pretty good at that, then went to hook up to laptop and found i had no serial output, so need to get a usb to serial convertor, which i heard can give trouble??

Bit of a update on this, got it all running good now, ended up stripping my dizzy down to nothing but the mag pickup, had troube with it not idling down below 1000rpm. Had the same trouble when i had the btm hooked up. Idles at 650rpm. Really think this is the best ignition system for a 225, or really any engine.
