The car won't idle, so I put a spare bbd I had in the garage and now it will idle but it doesn't seem to have the same upper end power as the one I took off, just seems sluggish above 2000rpm. I want to rebuild the one I took off but want to make sure I get the correct kit. The carb is stamped0-2378. Is there specific kits for early vs later carb or v8 vs/6? Pretty sure its a v8 carb. I need this by wed night at the latest to have it on and running for clay city.

You should check out Mikes Carb http://www.carburetor-parts.com/ I have bought several rebuild kits for my Carter BBDs. He has a long list of model numbers. And you can also call them and they can tell you which one will work.
