I'm going to replace the t-stat in my `87 dodge D-150 /six. It came with a 195. Is there any reason not to replace it with a 180 ? Other than heat output. ( It's a Super six.)

I run mine with a 180 and it is ok. But everything is new in my truck. Heater core, radiator...etc. The heater in these trucks, especially up to the defroster can be poor. I may keep the 195 if you are not having problems.

An 87 may have a smart enough ECU that 180 will confuse it and it won't run correctly (it may think the engine isn't warmed up)
