First, a sexy pic of the Smith Bros 3/8" pushrods, .100 shorter than stock....

As I finish up the 225 rebuild, I primed the engine before putting the valve cover on for the final time. I like to do this to ensure the rocker shafts are getting oil, and of course to fill all the oil passages and filter with oil. I'll prime it again before I start it.

The pump is a generic small block (318) pump with an NPT tapped 'block off' plate on the outlet to connect to a hose. If you don't have a port on the oil galley at this location, there is also a port at the oil pump itself under the filter. The inlet side of the pump is just connected to a hose and stuck in the oil jug.

After about 10 seconds of spinning, there was a very nice flow of oil along the rocker shaft, you could see each rocker getting oil and the oil making its way out to the valve tip and rocker screw.
