I bumped the compression, installed a new cam and a 2 Barrel on my truck and my power and mileage both went up.

Yup. Mileage often goes up with the 2bbl.

Yes, and although some people don't like to hear it, the best road mileage I ever got was with the same truck and a 4 barrel on it. :D

Did you buy a 2 barrel manifold or make one from a 1 barrel manifold?

I'm not looking forward to fabbing the kick down linkage. Definitely interested though.

I have done both. But no worries about the kickdown. You can buy a cheap cable that works fine.

Yup. I have both the real lokar version and an imposter version here. I haven't tried either one yet.

I've heard that you can use a real factory one off of a newer Dakota or jeep ... Haven't scoped that one out yet... One of the companies that offers a cable setup I've heard was just a packaging of newer factory parts all wrapped up in one for about 10x what you could scrounge the parts for yourself in a u pull, though this company's package would be all brand new parts.

Yep. I made one out of a bicycle/motor cycle brake/clutch cable, many years ago.

Cool! Thanks!

CC'd the #1 and #6 combustion chambers this evening at 57 and 56 CC. Stock is 60?

ETA. Looks like 54 to 60 is the range so I am right in the middle.

Is it better to mill the head or the block? Going for around 9 to 1 compression unless that is too much for a daily driver.

What cam grind from Oregon? How does the RV10 look for this truck?

#6 exhaust valve and combustion chamber. I didn't take more pictures but can if you are interested. Had trouble getting a travel indicator on the valve but I can feel enough shake that it is out of spec. Valve seals looked better than I thought they would. Going to try to get this to the machine shop tomorrow.

Is it best to take the head in with the valves in? Remove the manifold studs? This is new to me.

Guessing put the main caps on the block, take the pistons with rods, and head in. Lay the crank down in the back of the Ramcharger with the block and head?

The 87 Ramcharger is all I have to haul the parts in.

Yeah definitely take the valves and springs and keepers in.
They'll need to reface the valves and inspect them for replacement if needed.

Lower row of intake studs need removed to plane the head.
