I had to help the shop a bit, they're having supply problems getting 'y' collectors in certain sizes at the moment, so we looked at the setup and I ok'ed them to run it like Dartvader said.... two 2" pipes all the way to the back (I'll add an 'H' pipe later). It's not as throaty as the two barrel with one 2 1/2" pipe, but it forms a nasty rasp note when accelerating. It idles better now, and I don't have to use the gas pedal to get off the line at a stop light... :D

I took it down the highway and got up to 65 mph without any bog or problems, but I still need to fine tune things since there still is a 'wait' period when the throttle is 'tromped'.

I also need to find a set of exhaust tips to spiff up the tail pipes since my car has that 'home made chevy exhaust' look....

Congratulations DI. I think you will like that set up. You have plenty of pipe for a slant. I think you will like the H pipe. It should get rid of the drone that happens right about highway cruise speed. After installing the duals, oversized exhaust valves, and porting the head on my slant, it pulls clear to 5K, with a mild cam. I never had a slant before that would get to 5K without abusing it. I still shift at 4.5K, but it feels much better for the engine there. Keep us posted.
