Spent the week fighting a stomach bug going around. Missed 3 days work and the baby's party.

Went to the shop alone since I wasn't sure if I was contagious or not.

Motor is in the car and bolted down. Hopefully I can take Luke next weekend and get it buttoned up.

Sorry to hear about the bug, but glad to hear about the motor. The heart of the Piggie will ride again!

Yes it will Lou.

I had Luke sit in the car last weekend. He fits it pretty good.

Made the trek alone today. Made more progress. It turns over now. Next weekend we will get the manifolds on and make some noise and hopefully be leak free.

Another day at the Skunkworks.

Turned the motor over and got 50 psi oil pressure.

Tried installing the "Bed of Snakes" header. Got all the hardware in but 1 nut. Took it back out and the stud was goobered up. I also remembered that these studs are 1/4" longer than normal Slant studs. I am going to find some shorter ones and it will make this thing a ton easier to put in.

After the intake/header go in all that's left is flushing out the cooling system and then we're ready to make some noise.

New belts ordered, should be here by next weekend.

Took Luke today. Car is running.

1/4" shorter studs really made a difference in putting on the big header. Took all of 30 minutes. The fact that Luke's hands are way smaller than mine helped a lot too.

Got my reverse cooling setup in. Instead of pumping the cool water into the front of the block right under the return, it now goes in where the drain was behind the oil pump. Is it any better? Time will tell.

Next weekend I am helping Luke work on his wife's car. Then back to the grind.

Congrats, Dennis! I remember my first MP 6X1 header in 1989 and changing all the studs in my head to make it easier to remove/install... Always great to have a running Slant 6 racecar.

Lou
