What I did should not have changed the car that much. I must have just caught lightning in a bottle.

I thought you weren't gonna play with nitrous any more...

I'm not, that's why I'm scared. It's like I put a 50 shot on it.

Ho ho ho... Is Mike worried, or excited for you?

Took Friday and Monday off for my trip to Charleston this weekend. Going down Friday to do a little pre race checkover. 10 runs on it now so I am going to change oil and use my fancy filter cutter to look and see if it's eating itself. I originally put 7 quarts of oil in for fire up with 2 being trans fluid to clean things up after sitting for so long. Dexron 3 makes good engine cleaner.

Going to put my shift light in so I never get caught not being able to see the tach at night.

Bought some fancy polish for the windshield so maybe I can see out of it when there is glare. I made the mistake of cleaning it with Windex and it fogged pretty badly.

Going to try to clean up the idle some. Just not happy with it.

Also going to adjust the valves and try to get a lift reading on the cam. Yes, I am setting them dead cold, engine off, turning it over with a wrench.

OMG!! What are you THINKING!!!

I remember Dad making a concoction of water and trans fluid that he would run through the carb at about 2,000 RPM. Made one heck of a smoke cloud, but he swore that it cleaned things really well.

I’m living vicariously thru your racing, Dennis
What are the cold settings for the valves, intake and exhaust?
My brain has forgotten a lot of info.
I do remember, Rob, I also put your Dads concoction thru
the carb and it did smoke like “ arrest me now” crazy.

Rick

Dribbling water down a running engine is a good cleaner. It basically steam cleans the piston tops and backs of the valves. Never seen it done with trans fluid, but it can't hurt.

Rick, since Mike can't remember what cam is in the motor I just kind of guess. I think I set the intakes at .015" and exhaust at .025". My Clifford 300M is set even looser.

Yes i have to do that too. When you have 6 coils on the valve cover its hard to do with the thing running..

I've been thinking about that coil setup too Greg. I need to be careful though, I'm going to end up out-fancying myself.

Dennis just sold all of his nitrous stuff to Lou. I doubt he will want to buy it all over again... I could be wrong...
