Since this week is Speedweek at Bonneville I thought would post this.
Hard to believe its been 7 years.
I drove from Texas to meet up with Bob Daily and Lou.
If you have never been to Bonneville you need to put it on your bucket list!

Seems like it would be 120 degrees so I think I'll pass! Dennis, don't you hate summer too?

I wasn't aware it was that hot. That seems counter productive to fast times.

I know the season is limited to when the sslt is above water.

I was out there in 1959 (I think). Went with a fellow that ran at a dragstrip I worked at. I forget what class he ran, but the car was a Curtis Indy style roadster, with a blown Pontiac engine. If I remember correctly, he ran near 200 mph.
PS: It was hot during the day, but really cooled off at night.

I would like to go back, but no fun to go alone. Even as a spectator, you need to be with friends. There are a lot of things I would like to do again, and other things for the first time. But at this stage of my life, I really don't think I have enough time left to do them all. Also my get has gotten up, and my go has gone looking for it. :)

I know everyone's situation is different.
And I am blessed with good health and all the other things I "Need".
But I really try to live by this simple motto.
Look for cans in Life, not for can'ts.
Does it work all the time, heck no, but every little bit helps.

Hope all the slanters are doing well today.

Heat might be counter productive, but the 10 miles of flat open salt makes it easy.

It's not really that hot, with usually a breeze. Cool at night. You have to be careful not to get sunburned on downward facing surfaces, which is weird... Don't wear really loose shorts!

Thinking back, when I was there, I lived in NJ, so to me it seemed hot. Now that I live in Florida it probably wouldn't seem that hot. That sun really reflects off the salt, just like snow.
