I see they're building a new track within a couple hours of you in Callahan. Is that close enough to be any good for you?

Callahan is about 2 1/2 hrs north of me. Gainesville is a lot closer. I had someone tell me about this, last week. I'll believe it when the track opens. There have been so many stories about tracks the last 10 years, but nothing gets completed. I heard of one proposed track that was on a county line. The one county approved the track, but the other county stopped the track by not approving the parking area. Another proposed 1/8 mile drag strip on the same property as a 3/8 mile dirt track. Got knocked down do to noise concerns (you figure).

I hear ya. My home track RT66 closed for covid and never reopened for bracket racing. My new home US 41 always has the county on them for noise, etc., even though they've been there 31 years.

I was thinking RT66 closed a few years before covid was even dreamed of.
The one next door was a NASCAR deal, and were good for only having 1 event a year for the last few that they ran. What a waste

The whole facility shut down for covid. Nothing has happened at the cup track. It's a shame, it was a good place to watch a race. NASCAR cried they couldn't sell tickets, but they kept changing the dates of the races.

The dragstrip had the national event and nothing else. The track is supposedly being used for truck parking now.

The dirt track for some reason still has their full schedule.
