Just got done taking the engine out of my 1975 duster, and my dad and I noticed that the transmission isn't really mounted to anything but the engine. Is this correct, or is it supposed to be bolted to something that isn't there?

There should be a cross member, between the torsion bar anchors. A rubber mount on top of the cross member, to the bottom of the transmission tail shaft housing.

This is a late A-body so the mount is as Charlie says, but it has a rubber cylinder behind the crossmount with a
single bolt through it (called a spool mount similar to the way your motor mounts work), it should be easy to spot
if looking under the car from the back of the car to front...

You would have to remove this if you pulled the engine and transmission as a complete assembly.

Thanks, DI. I'm so used to the earlier setups, I forgot about the change to the spool mount.

Here are a couple of pictures I took of mine ('74 Dart). The red arrows show where the bolts should go (mine were missing).
