Hi Doc,

Has anyone out there ever thought of using an automatic transmission safety blanket on a 4-speed Bellhousing for some extra protection. As we talked before, having one clutch explosion and walking away unhurt is good, but probably lucky!!

With no bolt-on scattershield available I was wondering if the blanket may give some added protection. Your thoughts?? Would it be strong enough?? Waste of time??

Thanks,

Rick

Rick, I suggest that ANYTHING that can be done to reduce/eliminate possible projectiles from entering the passenger compartment is a good thing. While a trans blanket might be a bit pricey, it would at least slow down the pieces. You might want to check with the mfgr. and ask thier opinion concerning use for a clutch rather than an auto.

Just remember.....Don Garlits lost half his right foot in a clutch explosion; hence we now have rear-engine TF dragsters.

I'm watching one on E-Bay at $75.00 so it may not be too expensive to give it a try.
