Post subject: 2X1 intake manifold

Please forgive the ignorance of a mopar newbie. About two years back I was at a car show and saw an early A-body with dual 1 barrel carbs w/stock air cleaners. At the time I thought it might have been something imported from AU since they had lots of nifty mopar derivatives. But I noticed on the Hot Rod Vintage Parts site that they offer a 2X1 intake manifold as well. Does anyone on the board run this unit? Anyone insights appreciated. I'm considering this unit as an alternative to a super six setup on my '66 Dart 270 Wagon.

Just to make your decision more difficult, check out http://www.prolinefuel.com/dualslant.html . It's a twist on the same offy intake, but with dual 2bbl webers. Don't know much about it, except the guy who runs the place, chris, seems cool enough..

I have a couple laying around, but haven't used them yet. I got one from a fellow Slant racer who did use one. He siad it works very nicely on the street. He also modified one to use Carter BBD's. It's an easy mod to do. Dennis

Hi I used one of these Offy manifolds on my 1965 Valiant Wagon for several years. The car ran great and got good gas mileage. I also have a friend that has this same manifold on his 1964 valiant race car. He turns 14.00 @ 95 MPH and he loves it. Hope this helps.

Wonderful! I'm almost sold on the idea. How was linkage handled on your car? Is there an easy way to set the carbs up progressively or did you just "hard wire" them?

The Dual Carb Offy set-up is kinda cool, getting the carbs. the same is tricky and it is hard to run dual chokes. Cable linkage is a must.

Here is a set-up running dual stock 1 BBLs, the link is to a Pro Line Weber set-up.

If you buy the manifold new from Offy it comes with all the linkage. It's the type that fits the "rod" type of gas linkage. Both carb's open at the same time. Doug P.
