What years did the A bodies have the non-od 4 speed? I think '76 was the first year of the OD 4 speed. Right? I found a '75 Duster for parts, and would like to know what 4 speed it has before buying. Thanks.

1964(63?)-1974 should all be A-833 standards (direct 4th gear, 1964-1966 should have the 3.09 1st gear too)
1975-1987 should all be A-833OD units, I just got an iron cased A-833OD off of ebay it's from a 1975 Dart with 3.23 rear gears...

good luck,

I broke it open and she's an OD tranny, the vin stamped on the pad started with a '5' (1975), she was a good buy, the previous owner used oil not ATF so the guts are all minty (no chipped gears, synchros look like the day they were put in...)
I think I'm going to pull the casing and tail shaft and replace them with the aluminum parts I have (like you I need a good spare for my Feather Duster).
I'll keep an eye out, does yours require the ball and trunion?
