How much interest is their in these adapter plates. I should have one by tommorrow, and Im just curious if its worth putting the time into making them out of aluminum. I will make one for myself for sure, just curious if anyone else is interested.

As we know, the level of interest and the price are somehow related . . . Any idea on the cost?

Think about making the plate thinner, possibly out of steel with the unused center remover for weight reduction. I could end-up needing / using one so keep us posted. (use it to mount the OD automatic)

I've had no luck finding anyone at Chrysler who can help me with drawings or specs, so.....until I can find one to reverse engineer nothing will come from me.

Max,

If you do end up making a thinner adapter plate, then I might be interested in one for clearance issues. The stock plate works pretty well, and is not too heavy (20-21 lbs with crank spacer ring) due to ribbed structure. However, it is 1.125" thick, so a thinner plate (3/8" - 1/2" steel maybe) would provide more clearance in an A-body floor hump for the OD auto. I would consider using flathead, socket-head bolts to hold it to the block so you can make the plate thin and strong. Please keep us posted.

In case anyone doesn't know, my '68 Dart uses one of these plates with an A500 auto. Can't beat cruising all day at 80 MPH while running 3.91 or 4.10 axle gears...

Cheers,

Lou

I am interested in the crank spacer ring you talked about. i have finally located one of these, but Im going through a middle man and apparently the person who has the spacer now tossed the crank spacer with the motor when it went to the boneyard. So, I assume this is a spacer between the crank and the flexplate? Thats all I assume is needed is a spacer the same thickness as the adapter. Let me know if Im on the right track. By the way, it wont be long after I get the part that I can figure a price on what a kit would cost. Thanks for the help.

Yep, the spacer is the same thickness as the adapter plate and spaces the flex plate away from the crank. It has a hole that slip fits snugly over the crank hub. It also has a rim on the rear of it that fits the flex plate hole, and a hole that accepts the torque converter snout. Should be really easy to make on a lathe, and then transfer punch the 6 holes from a
Slant Six flex plate. You would then need flex plate bolts longer than the stockers by just the thickness of the adapter.

Cheers,

Lou

Why dont you just use a slant 727? They came in trucks. Change the tail shaft and go.

The point is to be able to bolt an OD auto, or possibly a small block bellhousing (for a stick) onto a slant.

I would be interested in one of the adapter plates in order to mount a smallblock Blowproof to my slant 6. How much do you expect them to cost??

Thanks,

Rick

Rick,

I wont be able to get a good idea until I physically get my hands on one. Then I can write a program for the CNC and start getting machine time, material costs, etc. Ill post something as soon as I have a solid Price. Soon I hope.
