OK all you South West and West Coast Slant owners, here is a chance to get to a SL6 race and have some fun. :!:

We have the OK to run a SL6 bracket at the up-coming "Mopar's at the Strip" event in Las Vegas - March 28, 29 & 30th
Mark your calendars and let's make the effort to get some Slant Six action going out here on the West Coast. If anyone wants to help do something special at this event, let's work on it. (Match race, BBQ, Slant group activity, etc.)

Click on the flyer for more info:

OK SoCal folks,

This is your chance to be in on Slant racing history. :D I know a lot of you are interested, so just put it on your calendar NOW and DO IT!! Even if you've never drag raced, it'll be a great time running your car down the strip, and the people you'll meet can't be beat. I may even be crazy enough to drive out from NC in my '64!!!

Lou "The Shoe"

Looks like Mike and Blaine are going to be there. The new Mopar Collectors Guide (Feb 2003) has a one page ad for this event. On the entry form section, the slant six line has 'Featuring National Record Holder "Buzz & Half Dozen"'. Yeah, the cars name was misprinted. The slant six bracket is for slant cars running greater than 9.90 seconds. If Mike and Blaine turn 'Buzzin' loose, maybe they can break the rules and have a sub Super Gas ET.

I want to come! All I have is a stock Duster (well, it does have a Super Six). Never drag raced before.

It's close to me, so I'll see if the spousal unit is up for it.

I guess I need to swap out the 7 1/4 first?

That's what we need, a nice showing of slant cars at Las Vegas, stock or not.

Be sure to read-up on how to bracket race and see if you can get out to a local strip, even just to watch, that helps. See this link:
http://www.slantsix.org/articles/bracke ... t_race.htm

You may want to start a new topic in the "other" section....First Time Drag Racer... and ask questions and get car prep. ideas. I don't think you need to swap-out the 7 1/4 if it's in good shape.

As for getting the "better half" in on it, tell her that you have planned a fun filled week-end in Las Vegas....(speedway) errr....does she like to drive fast?

No, I have to change the 7 1/4, because one of the axle tubes has separated from the housing. :x

I did read the section on drag racing, but I will read it a few more times before the event.

As for the spouse, I expect she will want to do most of the driving! :?

I'll try to get out to the Friday nite drags up in Phoenix to try to get the hang of things....

You don't need a fancy paint job to bracket race, I raced my B'cuda for years in primer!

Is your Slant car ready to race??
We have a local sponsor for out SL6 bracket race, Fastway Automotive has put-up a $500.00 pay-out. Winnner takes home $250.00, $150.00 for runner-up, 50.00 each for the semifinalists.

Go to the promotors website, they are going all out on this event.
http://www.moparsatthestrip.com/

If you want to go to this race, book a hotel room now, the town is about sold-out and that is a hellavalot of rooms!

I am definately going to LAS.

The bad news is my custom exhaust pipes will not be made and installed in time. I am not going to be able to race my car this time around. I will be a spectator. 8)

I look forward to meeting all of you in Vegas.

:D

Here is the latest info. from the promoter, looks like you can get 50% off if you tell them you are with the Slant Six Club and Racers.

I'm entered and paid up! They had a 2-for-1 going near the end of FEB that I took advantage of. They also said that since I'm racing, that parking was free. So I saved $35.

I'm frantically putting the Duster back together. The spouse said I had to fix the front end before I raced it, so it's getting all new bushings and ball joints.

I guess I wil pull it over there, but I wish gas prices would QUIT going up! I bet that hurts attendance, especially the long haulers. I'm close, in AZ, and still not looking forward to filling the gas tank.

I had wanted to try it at Firebird before I came over there, but I don't know if I'll have time for that now.

I hear you on the gas prices, that's a real bummer seeing most everyone has to do some driving to get to Las Vegas.

I also need to get a "track day" in quick, still need to sort-out some NOS bugs, car is running it just needs some testing & tuning.
