Mods...maybe a sticky?

I don't have the head any longer so these are the only pics I have. I sent it to member Lucky13. I think he may have passed as he was having health issues. He hasn't been on since last June. I even sent a letter to his home with no response. :(

Intake on the left. Notice the deck thickness.

Intake on the right. Your machinest needs to be careful with hardened exhaust seats as there is not much material there.

It was a stock head that was untouched. It was a drool tube head but don't recall the casting #.

It's probably closer to 1/2". Look at the diameter of the quarter vs the deck.

I know I know, I keep reviving old threads but here goes...

Currently on a ipad so I can't do the work I want but the photos will still yield measurements w a little work. The standard qtr is .955 inches. Or 1" without getting to technical, so then if some one laid out grid work or even used a guide on the photo by measuring the qtr first, one could use it to ID how thick the deck is etc.

Now here's why I posted, in the top photo there is a pocket under both qtrs and one has a hole the other doesn't. What are the pockets? Coolant pockets? I'm brainstorming again and found these photos and the pockets are in the way! Lol. So educate the young in if anyone knows pls.

Yes that's a coolant passage, the one that doesn't have them is the end of the head (see the rocker shaft stand at the top of the "chunk").

Well there goes that idea  , roaming the web and thinking I had thought of cold start injectors and long story short I was trying to incorporate as close to direct injection as we could get.
Image
Sometching like that was the thought but never mind. If the injector stuck in far enough and fire downward. An injecto like this
Image
So that was the thought but with coolant in the way that would really mess things up. So onward with more wild thoughts...
