Do they pay you to sport that?

If you go here, http://slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php ... &start=285

And scroll down to the photos, you will see the solution that did integrate the air dam and the front plate. You will see a lot of crazies too.

Well actually, it is gone now. I cut a hole in the bumper where it used to be. Does anybody out there drive their car on the streets on a regular basis without a front tag,and do you get stopped? I got stopped in by PT Cruiser once without a front tag, but think they might not bother be in a classic car. Thoughts?

Sam
Wow here in Georgia, the state has never required us to have a front tag.

I just read the quote of the post that got this thread started and was surprised by the typos. It seems I had a little left right dyslexia between the hands. Twice, I typed a "B" instead of an "M". Curious. And of course the spell check did not pick it up since each time it spelled a real word. Sorry. I will try to be more careful.

Its strange when it comes to enforcement of this law in New Jersey.

I drove around for a month with my 3000gt with no front plate on, and got pulled over. So far I have gotten about 4 tickets for it, but after a few months they stopped bothering me, and its been about 3 years and no tickets since.

My corvette i have been driving for 1 year without a plate, and have never gotten pulled over.

My dodge stealth I had no front plate on, and I got pulled over almost twice a week until i put it on (i just had the car re painted)

Ya know all those "advertising" license plate frames, advertising the selling-car lot, sports teams etc? I havent lately, but seems like I used to see vendors at county fairs, flea markets etc making "custom" ones; I thought about getting a set of "smart a** ones made up for my 78 Fury after my wife got that ticket that say basically "they're both here; you AIN'T Gonna get me for that ticket again: but in a lil "sronger" language:
I mean if they pull ya over for "something else and they decide to add on a missing license plate as an "oh by the way" on account of giving them a hard time for pulling ya over? I can "almost" agree to that;
but as a sole, no-other-reason-to-stop you type of thing? (like they did in my wife's case on the Fury) I think that the issuance of a ticket for missing a front plate is a batch of bull. because then it isn't anything to do with "public safety" what so ever"; it's more like ca ching! the city cash register becomes the only benefactor; along with probably the blood pressure meter which in my case gets to hit a new "high" each time they steal from me for frivoulous things like that;

Montgomery County here in Maryland now has speed cameras that take the photo from the front. That is their logic now. And, now the law requiring a front license it makes sense. Anybody without a front license plate can't be ticketed by a speed camera. Personally, I prefer the speed cameras to speed bumps. That has been the thing around here for over ten years, and they are a major pain.

A friend of mine has a 51 XK-120 Jag that never had a place for a front plate and is grandfathered in. But he still gets stopped by the same cop in his town 2 to 3 times a year and every time it gets tossed out of court. Hope springs eternal
