Rockauto has a front wheel bearing / hub (sisters saturn vue) that's significantly cheaper than the timken part with the same part number. (48 vs 80)

Anybody ever hear of Value Pro?

Is it made by timken for rockauto (thus the same part number) or is it a cheap knock-off using the same part number?

This is one of those questions that answers itself if you think about it for 15 seconds or so. Laughing

(Seriously: It is. Think.)

No, when you order a part, the part number (timken), supposedly, goes through a system that signals some guy to pull that part off a shelf. That guy throws it in a box and sends it off. Is this faulty logic?

thinking about it for 15 seconds it's a cheap knock off, but would probably still work alright (for a while at least).

And thus supply and demand makes certain we have the lowest quality parts available, 'cause manufacturers maintain a stock of parts that actually sell! Laughing

Yes. Very.

Think carefully for a minute: Suppose Raybestos makes a brake rotor with part number ABC-123. What do you imagine prevents Chengdu Foshan Guangdong Brake Traffic Industrial Concern making a brake rotor for the same application with that same part number ABC-123? The answer is absolutely nothing. Camping onto part numbering systems is very common even among reputable aftermarket parts suppliers. It's even more common amongst "offshore" (ahem! Rolling Eyes) makers of low-quality garbage. Part numbers are not proprietary!

If you order a Raybestos part, you will likely get a Raybestos part (unless you get a counterfeit from the People's Republic of Offshore, which is a whole separate problem).

If you order a Chee-Zee-Valu-Save part, you will likely get a Chee-Zee-Valu-Save part.

Ah ok, I read the OP as "it is" made by Timken, rather than "is it", I need to get my eyes checked. Makes more sense now Wink

Order both. When they arrive and both say Timken send the expensive one back. If only one says Timken send the other one back. If neither says Timken take the cheap one.
