Too bad we can't settle on one simple metric unit for everything.

Agreed. When I was a kid, and that has been awhile now, they told us eventually ALL measuring in the US was going to be metric. Guess what. We are still waiting. It is hard to get everyone in any group to agree to anything completely, much less get groups to agree with each other. Complacency. Not invented here. Ego attachment. Unwillingness to retool. Conviction of superiority. ETC, ETC, ETC. So there you are. Fortunately the internet does offer some handy conversions, if you know what the acronyms stand for.

I'm sure you are as frustrated as I am. The world is simply leaving us behind, and will continue to do so...

You are absolutely correct. I think one of the keys to staying young is to TRY (at least) to stay with current technology and social trends. And this is even if you don't necessarily like the new trend. My father in law, before he died at age 92 could not make a phone call, change the channel on the TV or use the microwave. He rejected all new technology as unessential, and a nuisance. Eventually he was all alone, and completely incompetent.

This is one of the reasons I am fooling around with EFI. It is a small thing, but one step towards staying relevant in a changing world. Am I in over my head? Yeah. Kind of. But at least I can doggie paddle. Thanks to you guys for trying to drag me kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

There is probably a Discovery Channel documentary program contained in your post above Sam.

I had to chuckle when I read about the microwave. We got a microwave in the mid-eighties. By my old man's reaction you'd have thought we had installed a nucler reactor in the house. He would not even approach it. I still think about that today when I press 1-3-0-start on ours.

Lots of screaming and kicking old geezers here already, it would be a loud but lonely place without you... Laughing

Olaf.
