1972 B200 transmission swap

First timer to this forum, i was ushered over here from vannin i was told you guys are the gurus. Im looking to swap out my 3 spd column tranny from my 72 to a 75 to 87 4 speed manual on the floor, for highway and gas saving purposes. Is there a stock model that would swap right in? i was told there might need to be some modifications to the linkage to get it in a van.

saw the pit`s in other forum. shift on the floor in a van, saw one shifter, looked long not sure if owner welded an exstinsion in the handle. looked cool though.

did one years ago...had to find the longest shifter and rebend it some as it was installed backwards....facing forward instead of back

Yes, I think a833 trans were put in /6 vans from 1975 until 1987, so it should out work pretty well.
I might do the switch myself too.
