Mater Jr. versus Cookie Jr. !! |
So, Chase and I wuz sittin' 'round the dinner table this evening and we got ourselves to talkin' 'bout that there "Grudge Match" that you & I is s'posed to have if'n you ever git anything ready...
He sez to me, "You just tell that derned Yankee & that kid of his to come & git some!"
I told him that yer boy couldn't drive a stick shift & my boy, bein' the kind-hearted soul that he is, sez to me, "We could just trade 'em straight up - our Duster fer that ther Demon!"
So I sez, "Well, that's mighty kind of you, son. I'll offer that up to 'em."
& then he sez, "It don't make no nevermind no how. I'll git him to run me fer Pinks and just get that Duster right back."
C'mon Cookie! We're just spoilin' fer a good fight!

I'm a good ole boy! Actually I prefer " Penniless White Appalachian ".
Mater is just pinhead crossbred extra from the set of Deliverance.

I bet your kids made more passes than you tough guy. |
I'd probably count my total lifetime dragstrip passes somewhere just shy of about a hunderd er so I s'pose... So, no I ain't no expert.
But I can still whoop up on Cookie without even breakin' a sweat!
My kids have only made about a handful so far, but that's about to change here real quick.
Andrew is done swimmin', so I'll be takin' him out to the drag strip and out to some autocrosses real soon.
Chase gets his permit mid June, so I'll have to check with the local drag strips and with SCCA to see what, if anything, he can compete in.
I'll probably have the best luck with Chase drivin' at US 60. Their website say's something like, "We're an outlaw type track. If you feel comfortable racin' it, we feel comfortable lettin' ya!"
You'd better be gettin' yerself (and yer kid) ready Cookie, cuz "Hell's comin'... And I'm comin' with it!!"

So, Chase and I wuz sittin' 'round at the swim meet today...(He got a first in the 50 Free with a 23.36 )
He akses me, "So, d'joo tell that derned Yankee & that kid of his to come & git some?"
I told him I sher did try, but that boy uh yers wuz hidin' in the bathroom and come to find out YOU couldn't drive a stick shift!
So he sez, "That don't make no nevermind. We'll git 'em whenever they're ready I s'pose..."
I could see in his eyes that he was a bit disappointed, so I sez, "Tell you what. I been thinkin' 'bout doin' another one uh them "Road Trips" and I'd sher like it if you'd come with me. Why don't we start lookin' real serious like fer you a jen you wine Slant 6 racin' car of yer own, seein' as how you'll be gittin' yer drivin' permit here in a couple months. We could find one out in cal ee forn I aye er some such place, fly right on out there & drive it back together!"
He thought that was a right fine idea! We both figger that gittin' a car is half the fun anyhow. We could even plan it so'z that we could swing by one uh them Killer Bee races on the way back.
We ain't got any East Coasters race in June, but I see that Woodburn is the weekend of 23-24 June... Chase can git his drivin' permit on his birthday (June 17th)...
So that gives us 'bout 2 1/2 months to find him a good, solid Slant 6 powered A body that would make the drive back without too much drama.
Yes, I'm serious! I'll post something in Vehicle Buy/Sale with some parameters. (And eventually git up the nerve to run this idea by the missus. )
