I have a 74duster, i'm lookin into doing the disc brake swap on the front of the car. i also would like to change the front and back to big bolt pattern. Anyone got any leads on parts as far as the axles and the front disc stuff to change em out. Oh my rearend is a 8 3/4 uhhhhh 489 case i believe I'd have to double check that to be 100%

Thanks!
Kev

There's an article called Disc-o-tech. Use a search engine and it will pop up. The only not off the shelf part is the spindle, and caliper adapter. I found one at Halls Garage, 401-6473648. It was $90 after shipping. This swap will give you 11 3/4" front rotors. The rear axles, you can buy on ebay, around $250 before shipping. The drum in a parts yard. I'm doing the exact same thing on my 63 Valiant Signet Convert. My caliper adapter arrived Thursday. I have to pick up a rearend, I'm looking for aa A body 8 3/4 bacause I already have a sure grip chunk.

This will really depend on how much you have to spend, how well you want to stop, and if weight of parts is any concern. I could write a book on this topic.

Well my dad and I converted his roadrunner from drum to disc on the front just using stock b body disc brakes. It was a piece of cake doing it that way, I honestly would be happy with a set of stock a body disc brakes, but i'd go for aftermarket stuff as long its not big headache making things fit. My brakes in their current state are scary to say the least so anything would be awesome. The axles I basically was wondering do I just get a big bolt pattern axle stick it in? or get an aftermarket piece the car does get some street strip action.

You can just buy the Moser BBP axles and stick them in, yes, but will need 10X2.5" rear drums/plates and such, or an aftermarket disc kit.

Check out doctordiff.com. Cass has all the axles and disc kits you could want and is a straight up and reasonably priced guy.

For your turbo car, I would strongly suggest the 11.75" discs with Wilwood or Viper calipers, OR a custom kit with the Cobra or Mercedes rotors (arengineering.com). You will be AMAZED at how much more fun the car is to drive with great brakes on your side. The 10.87" stock A-body BBP stuff is fine, but nothing compared to the 11.75".

ok i've been doing some looking around on ebay i think i may have found upper control arms these.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-1976-MOPAR-A-BODY-Disc-Disk-Brake-Control-Arms-/250992618851?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a70536d63&vxp=mtr

What do you guys think about these ebay kits??

http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Wheel-Non-Power-Standard-Disc-Brake-Conversion-Kit-1960-1976-A-Body-Mopar-FS-/290683229714?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43ae121612&vxp=mtr

I am contemplating doing all 4 disc brakes because I have a set of big bolt cragars and if I leave the back small bolt pattern then my big bolt pattern cragars dont match my small bolt pattern cragars. One set of rims is a newer style cragar and the other is the older round spoke style. Oh and wit this conversion kit it would come with everything except the control arms and big bolt axles for the back.

What am i forgetting, I would like some feedback any concerns? Lou chime in anytime or any of you other masters.

I would strongly consider just calling doctordiff (.com) and getting a whole 4whl package from him. Cass is a great guy, excellent parts, good prices, dependable... He can set you up with either green or std tapered bearings. Green are fine in my book, although not for road racing loads?? Tapered are stronger and about same price.

Also, your car is getting fast, so 11.75" fronts would be a great upgrade. I run wilwood calipers on mine (2 sets) and they are great.
