Rack and pinion steering

I have a 62' Signet and I am wanting to know if rack and pinion steering is a worthwhile modification.

Your experiences and views would be appreciated on this modification.

No.

There is no good way to do it and have the rack end up in the proper position so you do not have bump steer, or have the rack in the way of everything else.

It is also fairly hard to find a rack the proper width for an A body. A Pinto rack is really too wide to make the steering geometry work.

Someone was making a kit to put the rack in place of the stock steering, but they turned out to be a real disaster.

I have since found some info - do a google on Elko and see the rack and pinion system they have. It looks ok.
