I have my 65 Dart running pretty good with a newly installed Proline Fuel / Dutra Duals set-up....I am ready for Vegas! :D
I know of a few SL6 racers who are planning to get out there.
How about some of you internet Slixers?? Come on out and join us for some fun.
I hear the Moparts crowd is meeting for breakfast on Saturday morning, may-be the Slant Sixers need to go out for dinner Saturday night. 8)

I'd love to go but the Fury isn't even roadworthy yet. I'm on here gathering knowledge for the eventual build. Some year I'll do it, even if I have to take the Dakota, says the trip is 2135.1 Miles lets see at 70 MPH thats 30.5 hours. The wife would kill me because I'd try and do the whole thing with as few stops as possible.

I've been getting tuned for vegas until a real "aw sh#$" happened this afternoon. Coming up a hill under acceleration when the tranny started slipping. Surprised me since the thing was rebuilt by a local 'expert' shop who are very active at the local drag strip. I drop the tranny pan and its loaded with aluminum grit as well as a few chunks 1/8" x 1/16", the filter is filled with alum grit as well.
Problem is the shop is closed on Mondays and I'm with a client all day Tuesday. I obviously can't risk driving 20 hrs with this situation. Looks like Vegas will have to wake until next year :( :x :(
Doug, I'll send you a PM about how best to get you the additional prize money.

Man, that is bad news...
Well, all you can do is get it into the shop and see what went wrong.
The good news is that this problem came-up close to home instead of thousands of miles away.
Keep us posted as to what went bad inside the gearbox.
(I can express ship parts if it is something simple lake a shredded planetary set)

I've gotta work Friday night and all day Saturday. I'll be there in spirit. I was even going to try and get the DCOE's/NOS on the car. My car is built from parts from many of you guys. I'd love to put faces with the usenames. I'll still try and make it if I can get out of Saturday. Anything going on Sunday? I might could make it for a day.

The actual SL6 Bracket Run-off IS ON SUNDAY 3-21-04
Here is the plan, get off work and drive any Slant car you can out to Vegas, if you can get there early (before 6:00) we can do dinner.
We can put you up in the motel room if needed.

On Sunday, enter the car in the SL6 Bracket Race and YOU WIN MONEY.
Go some rounds in the bracket and YOU WIN MORE MONEY.

I think you need to drive out to Vegas...
Drop me an email if you need more info.

Ok,

I must be outta my mind but, I'm gonna try and make it. I don't finish work till 7:00 on Saturday. Grab a bite and be there by midnight. Catch some ZZZ's and get up in the morning and see if I can break my car. I gotta read up on braket racing. What do I need to get through the tech inspection? I've never done this before. AAAAAA!!

Gotta try and Get the 8 3/4 posi rear in. My 7 1/4 is going to brake any minute. Shorten the drive shaft ( How Much Again? I've asked 12 times). rebuild the rear Brakes. What else? I must be nuts. I should'a started getting ready 2 months ago. Now I got 4 days. OK Here I go.

I just talked to a buddy of mine at work. Now he wants to ride "Shotgun". I think I got a co-pilot. It helps when you have to push.

See you There (Pray for me)

Mike Andreas

Go Mike Go!

Shorten the driveshaft 1 7/8" and you should be OK. I've heard anywhere from 1.5-2.1". Personally, I'd probably leave the 7.25" in there and just soft launch it.

Cannon Driveshafts in N. Hlywd can shorten your shaft in a couple of hours for like $60.

Make sure you have a battery hold down and a metal (not plastic see through) fuel filter. Otherwise you should be fine. Might need a helmet too for Vegas??

the 7 1/4 is a 2.94. Great for to and from work but. Helmet huh? Would a Motorcycle helmet work?

Some tracks only require helmets for faster than 14sec, but some want helmets on anybody. Motorcycle helmet will work fine. Some tracks might be sticklers and require 1990 or up Snell approval, but I've never seen a strip check a helmet, only roadcourses.

:D Rebuild the brakes and get the shaft shortened I'm good to go. I did screw up the fuel thank sender putting the rear in. I hope not too bad. I hope it's just the hose. If it's too bad I'll just yank the tank out of the wagon. They look the same.

You won't believe it. All of the bushings on the springs were tight as a drum. No kidding. The car has 400+k miles on it. gotta love MOPAR. The springs, though, are pretty much shot. I think my air shocks are the only thing holding the rear up.

How many newbies are there. The pot will get pretty thin.

Any place I can crash when I get there? Prabably 12 or 1 am? Should I book a room? where? I figure I'll spend $120 on gas. I'm counting on that prise money

This should be fun

Way to go Mike!
That rear end swap must be a new world record!

I am staying at the Speedway Ramada Inn, off exit #46 (I-15) bring a sleeping bag and you are welcome to crash in the room.
If interested, shoot me a PM or email so we can work-out the details.
As for the first time racers who have contacted me saying they are going, you are #2... Ok so even if you double that to 4, you still get $75.00. :) Now cut the best light, (reaction time) and earn another $100.00  Then there is the regular pay-out....
