2) June 25-26, Thunder Valley Dragway, Bristol, Tennessee. Saturday and Sunday Slant 6 drag races. 1/4 mile. Friday night t'n't also!! Race coordinators Brian Mimken and Jack Everhart.

3) July 22-23, Knoxville Dragway, Maynardville, Tennesee. Friday night and Saturday Slant 6 drag races. 1/8 mile. Race coordinator Gary Bruner.

4) August 19-20, Wilkesboro Dragway, North Wilkesboro, N. Carolina. Friday night and Saturday Slant 6 drag races. 1/8 mile. Saturday morning car show at Empire Chrysler Plymouth starting around 9 AM. Sponsor Tim Harrold - Empire Chrysler Dodge Jeep. Race coordinators Ron and Kay Hamby.

5) September 24-25, Mountain Park Dragway, Clay City, Kentucky. Saturday and Sunday Slant 6 drag races. 1/4 mile. This is part of the Mopar Southern Classic show, swap, and drags, as in previous years. Race coordinator is Ron Hamby.

6) October 8-9, Mason-Dixon Dragway, Hagerstown, Maryland. Saturday Slant 6 drag race. Sunday Slant 6 drag race. 1/4 mile. Race coordinator is Rick Covalt.

Midwest races for 2016
(part of Eastern schedule):

1) April 8th & 9th, MoPars Invade Mo-Kan, Asbury, Missouri. Friday night 1/8th mile, Saturday 1/4 mile. Contact Mark Goodman or Rusty Heisten

2) June 5th, MoPars Invade Centerville, Arkansas. Sunday race. 1000'. Contact Mark Goodman

3) November 5th, MoPars at the Park, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Saturday race. 1/4 mile. Contact Mark Goodman

Mark and all, I thought I would separate the Midwest-based races so that it is easy to see the geographic race areas. Tell me if you want this combined, but it seems cleaner this way.

Clay City and Mason-Dixon may move depending on whether Clay City will have a Mopar show this year. The new owners have not decided on that yet.

Let's go racing!

Lou Madsen

Has anyone verified the dates for the Clay City races? They were kind of up in the air after the banquet. If they are later in September we talked about having Mason Dixon move to later in October so the races were not so close. Just want to make sure everyone has time to do their scheduling.

Rick

Thanks for asking, Rick. What are the possible dates for M-D in the fall, if we don't do it the originally discussed weekend?

I just checked the Clay City website and they say the Mopar Southern classic is Sept 23-24 weekend, which is the one we usually join. believe I Ron H or Brian M were going to coordinate this one so if they don't jump in here soon I'll call them and see what's up.

All the best,

Lou

I believe the other dates were the 29,30th which is getting pretty late in the year, but doable. Point is I have not got a definite yes on either date, but I did speak to Jake (Elmers son-in-law who will be running things before long) and he thought the Oct 8,9 date should be Ok. He wanted me to contact him once we are sure we want that date.

Dear Slant Sixers,

It turns out that the Clay City track did not go to new owners this year, which left the current (and long time) owners with lots of dropped and moved race events.

Ron Hamby spoke with Shane, the current track manager, and the Mopar Southern Classic will actually be on Sept 24-25. Ron and I decided that we should move the Clay City Slant race to these dates so that we can be part of the Mopar show, and so that Shane can pay us a bigger purse. He will pay $200 to win, $150 RU, $50 semis, and $25 quarters, for each race day (Sat and Sun) and the entry is $30 for each day.

There will also be test and tune Friday night the 23rd.

Please note this in your calendars and I hope we have a big turnout at this great (and fast) track!

Slant on,

Lou

So do we want to keep the Mason Dixon on Oct 8,9? or do you want to move it also? 29th & 30th are the other dates.

I would prefer to keep it at the earlier dates, but will go along with what everyone else thinks is best. Once we decide I will verify with Elmer.

Rick I am ok with the earlier date, but will go along with either one that is decided on.

The 8th/9th and the 29th/30th are the worst weekends for me in October.

The others are better for me personally

I will try to make whatever part of fall mason dixon that I can.

The other two weekends in between will not work for the track. The 1st,2nd may work but that is back to back weekends.

After talking with Lou today we are going to try and stick with the 8th & 9th dates. I will contact the track and get confirmation and report back for sure.
