I think Im going to try the 63 Dart tank in my 62 Lancer. I found these on ebay and was wondering if anyone knew these companies.

Thanks for any help

This is good timing for me. I have a 62 tank that I am looking at getting cleaned and then powdercoated. All that will be much more than what these company's are asking for.

What worries me are these look like the same tanks from the pictures.
18 gallon sounds like a lot larger than the 13 that I think the 62 tank is.
I can't tell from the pictures what the fuel inlet looks like.
The 62 has just a little grommet that seals the filler tube to the tank.
One good thing, it looks like the mount strap runs right to left!

Any one else have any thoughts??

I had some of the same question s , it was just such a good price , hard to tell the quality though, spectra tanks seem good but go for $170

The 63 tank fits in a 62, that is what I have right now. The issue you will need to deal with is the sending unit needs to match the tank ( the 62 is on the right side of the tank front and the 63 is centered on the front and uses a different sender, wires and fuel line need relocated ) The fill tube works like the original. The tank has more capacity because it extends farther back around the spare tire well.

Good info! Did you locate a 63 sending unit for your tank, remember the supplier for the sending unit? Grommet worked well on the stock filler tube?

I just bought a spectra tank for $120 with free shipping on Ebay. Now I need the sending unit. Is it worth getting the 3/8 unit, I will hope fully be upgrading to turbo in the future.

Thanks,

Do not remember the supplier, but the sender came from the same place as the tank. I got a new grommet as well, it was the same as the 62 part.

well I went with all spectra products. Got good deals on tank and sending unit. What has anyone used for the material that sits on top of the tank?

Thanks

I'm sure not fixin' to put in a tank pad made of any kind of porous material (gets wet...stays wet...rusts whatever metal is next to it). I rather use a thickness or two of this cheap and easily locally available stuff.

Rem for Originality.

Cut up rubber roofing or old interubes for cheap and easy functionality.

Does anyone know a source for a 62 Lancer gas tank strap?

Thanks

Do you still need the strap? It's been over a year, so probably not...
