I wanted to put side markers on my '67 dart, took me awhile to decide on a format. Finally, I decided, after taking some careful measurements, to install '68 style markers, but plymouth versions, the flat ones. I was going to install '68 Dart style, on the fender crease, but they would require me to lose a letter from my "D-A-R-T" emblems on the rear. So, I decided to use the Plymouth style, down by the bumper. Yes, it's not original, but it is "period correct."

It was really difficult to get the rear ones installed, very tight tolerances, but finally they are in. The fronts were extremely easy.

Here are some pics.

I also did the shunt (thanks Dan!) to make the marker lights stay on when the headlights are lit. I used Sylvania LED bulbs, again thanks Dan for recommending those, they are nuclear bright.

My plan is to use a DLR-1 module and make the fronts into turn signals as well. Happy to share more pics/info for any interested party.

Brian

It's funny, my '67 is anything but original, with TBI fuel injection, reworked motor, 2000 Sebring seats...yet my wife comes into the garage, not a knowledgeable car person, sees me cutting holes for my marker lights and says, "...it won't be original, what are you doing?" I have no idea where that came from...

FYI, you would not believe what I found in the rear quarters. I removed the drain plugs and rinsed them out with the garden hose. There was:

- handfuls of dirt and rust
- hair balls, long blonde hair, nobody I know
- a pack of gum
- a SS corner trim piece for '67 dart windshield
- a top from a can of shaving cream
- various machine screws
- washers of various sizes
- a quarter
- small bits of paper
- some styrofoam bits

I ran a thin rod down in there along with the hose and some more stuff came out. After letting it dry for a day in the hot sun, I sprayed some epoxy frame rust sealant down in there. My car must have lost a few pounds just from that exercise.

Installed the DRL-1 module today, works great. Now my front side markers are also turn signals. I'll post a video at some point. Brian

First, the quarter I found in the rear quarter panel; well, I cleaned it up and it was a 1981...I was hoping for a 1967, but oh well.

Second, here is a pic and a video showing my marker lights and result of DRL-1 installation:

My first car was a '67 Dart GT. I bought it for $325 when I was 15 (1982). The previous owners carried some interesting things in that trunk. Those corners down there catch a LOT of stuff. Cool finds and I like your choice of the '68 marker lights.

Mine had aftermarket side marker lights on it. They may have been a dealer add on or something. They were rectangle and the molding was that chrome-like coated plastic.

Thanks Rob. Yes, it took me awhile to figure out what style to go with. One of my brothers' first cars was a white '68 dart, slant six, three on the tree. Not long after buying it, he had a 4 bbl on it and so forth. He drag raced around town with it. I like the '67-69 body style best.
