Could a slant 6 race event be approved if no points are anticipated or awarded?

Hi Mark,

I see no reason why not. You can have a Slant 6 meet and advertise it and such, and if there are no points then it does not affect our points racing series. I suppose if you scheduled it near one of our other races on the same weekend, then some folks might object... Other thoughts, folks?

Best,
Lou

I was thinking of contacting the promoter of the Tulsa MoPar race to see if it is okay for me to maybe get more people to show up for the race. They can't run a race without having buy backs and mulligan's available which does not work for a points series.
Not really a test and tune because you will get a trophy, bragging rights and the prize money the track puts up.

Sounds very reasonable.

What about a slants.org endorsed race with no points awarded, setting a record at that race? Will that record be recognized?

Not everybody wants to or can afford to tow 1400 miles round trip to set a record.

Myself, I don't see a problem with that. Might I suggest, trying to set up one or more slant six races in your area, and getting them on the 2020 calendar, for points.

I agree a race should have points but not all promoters get the concept of no buy backs.
Could the November Tulsa MoPars at the Park be added to the 2019 schedule if approved?

That's plenty far enough out to add it IMHO. If it's a no points race it also won't effect the Championship.

I ain't nobody what makes no decisions err nuthin', but I'd vote YES fer ya, Mark!

(That'd be YES X2 fer the race & fer settin' them reckerds... :D )

I am happy to add this as a no-points race, and put it on our Slant 6 racing schedule.

I encourage anyone who is against this to post here or PM me to discuss. Can we get others to give input on this?

Thanks,

Lou

This idea is not being done for Team Green.
I'm thinking about our racers from the frozen tundra of Minnesota.
They may want a break from the cold and come on over to warm, balmy, sunny Tulsa in November.

Understood, Mark. I like the idea and hope it goes well! I guess if records are allowed to be set, then we should discuss this here and at the banquet next year. That is the only reason I see for people to object...

Best,

Lou

If you run the slant 6 rules (no buybacks) you can get points.

If you buyback, no points.

I have no problem with the race being added but I'm not sure about the records. If you allow records to count at one non points meet, we may have to do in other areas of the country as well if people ask. Not saying no to the records, but leaning that way. Please keep discussing.
