Hello,

I'm new to the forum.
Have a question concerning oil capacity. The manual I have states 5 qts for the engine.
After adding 5, the dipstick level is below the add mark. I don't want to add too much. Does anyone know what the correct amount is?
Some numbers I got off the left side of the block are: 2806830-1.
Also, on the upper righthand forward side were stamped PT 225 R 2686.

The engine is in a 1962 D100 panel truck. Not sure if it's the original engine.

Also was wondering if there's an overdrive transmission available. The rear has 3.23 gears in it.

Thanks in advance.

Some trucks had a 5 qt oil pan. So it would take 5 qts in the pan and add 1 qt for the filter =6 qts.

My 225 cars take about 5-1/2 quarts with a new filter but my 65 Sweptline probably with the same pan you have takes 6 quarts, and a half quart low reads really low on the dipstick.

Welcome to the forum, we're only about an hour apart geographically, we should meet up sometime.

Thanks.
Yeah, since the engine has just started to be run again since an overhaul, I wanted the oil level to be correct. Initially, I put in 5, then added 1/2, then another 1/2. The dipstick still only read the top of the Add/bottom of the Full mark. I would get a puff of blue smoke immediately upon starting, so that's why I got concerned.
Otherwise, the engine runs fine. I took it on a 550 mile trip into PA last week. I changed the oil before coming back out, adding only 5 quarts that time. The oil pressure stayed at 50 psi, so I figured it was OK. I've since added another 1/2 quart.
I'd be glad to drive up to Columbus sometime. Are you going to the Mopar Nationals this weekend? I won't be able to make it because of prior commitments, but would like to find taller rear gears for highway cruising. It's got 3.23's in it now (8 3/4).
Let me know how to contact you.
Talk to you later.
