valiant.org is just like any other internet site: Full of opinions and guesses passed off as "fact".

If you want the real facts on the development of the Slant-6, read "A History of Chrysler Corporation's Slant-Six Engine", by Willem Weertman. He was Chrysler Corp's head engine engineer for many years.

Only one.....but it was one BIG mutha! Seems they figured out how to get 150 kajillion hectares to the quadra-litre, and big oil snatched it up quick.

(I just hope I don't get "the visit" by a couple guys in dark suits carrying one of those funny white jackets with the long arms.)

slant in tank idea came from C-bodies with slants.

It was more fun when dad would take the tracks off the Imperial.

Rumor probably did come from the five Dodge L-heads bolted together in a "W" configuration. I think these motors were based on the 230 cubic inch motor which the slant six eventually replaced. I think this contraption weighed more than 5,000 pounds.

A 230 motor with iron bell housing and clutch ought to weigh about 600 pounds, there was more than an extra ton of hardware tieing it all together.

Just one, and it was off a 6-horsepower Briggs&Stratton. It was actually over-carbed for the application because the aliens used illudium phosdex (the shaving cream atom) as fuel. With that kind of energy-dense fuel, a regular Carter 4-barrel could run all six of the 28-cylinder radials on a B-36....
