Due to space constraints, I'm stuck with having to use a glass pack muffler - does anyone know which is quieter, Thrush or Heartthrob?

I would go with a heartthrob at the least. Can you squeeze a cherry bomb in there? My friend has a thrush glasspack on his 250 Nova and it sounds awful, sort of like a long drawn out fart. We got tired of listening to it so he just runs straight exhaust now.

I'm curious what kind of space constraints you're facing...?

I bought a heart throb muffler from J. C. Whitney for my '78 Country Squire w/400 ci V-8. I like it - It's quiet but with a powerful tone and it's supposed to flow well. It's not a bullet style, though, like a cherry bomb.

Thanks - I'll order the Heartthrob's today.

SlantSixDan: I have to admit this is for my AMC-built '77 Jeep J10; 15 years ago it was fitted w/ sidemount mufflers based on a JCWhitney kit. Bad fuel ate up the metal gas tank since, so I put in a poly tank and don't want exhaust anywhere need it.

The JCW exhaust has rotted to pieces and they no longer sell it, so I'm trying to put together something similar that fits in the same place and doesn't cost more than the total value of the truck.

Have you considered a motorcycle baffle?

Slides into an existing pipe.
